Since the birth of the Department on 1st of January 1967, DID has grown from a modest irrigation provider to its present setup undertaking a wide spectrum of functions ranging from irrigation and agricultural drainage, coastal engineering, flood mitigation, main trunk drainage in urban areas to State water resources management with more than a thousand professional, sub-professional and supporting staff. To be able to cope with these enormous responsibilities and fulfill our Client Charters pledged to all customers of the department, tapping the full potential of the latest advancements in Information Technology is both strategic and imperative to ensure quality and timely services which are pre-requisites of a respectable government agency. The inception of DID website on the 18th February 2000 is an important step towards this end, which is in consonance with our commitment to an excellence works culture focused on continuous improvement. Useful information will be disseminated through this website, which includes departmental profiles and policies, news and events, and tender notices amongst others. We will strive to regularly update our website to make it as current as possible.
