Is DID responsible for domestic water problem?
DID is not responsible for the domestic water supply, or industry water supply. DID is responsible for the supply of irrigation water for agriculture purpose for example to paddy fields. Please contact the relevant authorities such as State Water Works Department for domestic water problems.
To whom should I complain about local drainage problems or flash flood?
DID and the local authorities are responsible for flood drainage. In general, the local authorities are responsible for construction and maintenance of local drainage systems whereas DID is responsible for rivers (and sometimes main or monsoon drains) that might flow in and out of the local authority areas. Flooding caused by blocked local drains and sewers falls under the responsibility of local authorities. Floods caused by overflowing main or monsoon drains and rivers due to inadequate capacity is usually the responsibility of DID. If in doubt please contact the nearest DID office.
Where can I get data on rainfall and stream flow?
Please contact the Hydrology Section of DID which is responsible for data on rainfall and stream flow.
Can anyone apply to use the land designated as "river reserve"?
In general DID does not encourage applications to use our river reserves because we have to enter it at anytime for emergency repairs and for maintenance of river. However, we may consider certain applications on a case by case basis.
How can I request a pedestrian bridge?
DID often receives requests to build pedestrian bridges or light traffic bridges for the convenience of the local population. Please contact the nearest DID office.
To whom do I complain about the problems of river pollution?
We appreciate information on the reasons and causes of river pollution. DID is not the enforcement authority to control pollution, we will refer the matter to the Department of Environment (Federal) or the Environmental Protection Department (State) for investigation and enforcement.
To whom do I complain about the garbage that clog drains?
Please refer this matter to the relevant local authorities responsible for the maintenance of these drains.
To whom do I report on squatters occupying river reserve?
If you see squatters occupying river reserve, you can contact the DID immediately. DID will contact the authorities concerned to remove the squatters as soon as possible.
